John Terry is the executive director with the Fighting Back Institute, is founder of the Fighting Back Institute’s Kid-Safe and Women-Safe self defense systems, and serves as a civilian tactical defense instructor for Combative Defense.

John has a martial arts background in Okinawan Karate and Kenpo, and has trained as a Tactical Security & Executive Protection specialist. He is also a certified Keychain Baton instructor and an active Chaplain with the Martial Arts Chaplain’s Association.

John has conducted hundreds of educational seminars and self-defense workshops for teen and adult women, focusing on teaching “danger awareness” skills to minimize a women’s risk of becoming the victim of a violent crime.and practical self-defense tactics. He also teaches specialized self-defense programs for children, with a focus on predator awareness and prevention tactics.

John is also a martial arts instructor and has been recognized by the United States Martial Arts Hall of Fame for his outstanding work as a self-defense instructor, and has written numerous articles on self-defense and danger awareness applications.
